El Paso, TX: Justicia Fronteriza PAC, an El Paso-focused progressive political action committee, had its soft launch on September 1, 2021, in east El Paso.

Justicia Fronteriza (Border Justice) was founded by local activists and former volunteers for Bernie Sanders’ 2020 presidential campaign and Verónica Carbajal’s mayoral campaign.

The PAC was created to address the lack of support and funding that progressive candidates receive when running for local office. The financial barrier often excludes qualified community leaders and/or incentivizes candidates to seek funding from wealthy developers. Its members want to recruit, train, and fundraise for progressives who desire to serve the community rather than special interests.

In addition to political candidates, Justicia Fronteriza plans to champion local ballot initiatives.

For far too long, our elected officials have been bought and paid and for by special interest groups. They use their wealth to control who gets elected - and who gets left out. They did it to Veronica Carbajal and Aaron Montes. They tried to do it to Alexsandra Annello. And they’ll try to do it to everyone who stands up to them. The Oligarchs use their puppets in office to get whatever they want. Meanwhile, the people get more certificates of obligation and less to show for it.

The current board consists of Veronica Carbajal (President), Jean-Carlo Tirado (Executive Director), Raquel Rojo (Treasurer), Kenneth Bell (Assistant Treasurer), and Kathy Staudt (Secretary).

We’re fighting to win justice in all its glorious forms - economic, environmental, social, racial, and gender.
